The Haven Gallery
Neville Prosser ARMIT, Photographer
"Welcome to my studio - The world is my studio"
Let me introduce myself. I am Neville A. Prosser and this is my website. For most of my working life, I have been a photographer. This may be as many, if not more than 35 years. But who is counting?
During my career in Melbourne, Australia I worked for the Postmaster General's Dept., the State Electricity Commission, and as a Scientific Photographer for the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation. Early in my career I studied photography at RMIT and graduated with an Associate Diploma.
Sixteen years ago my artistic skills became to be prominent and I decided to start my own business and created Prossper Photographics and The Haven Gallery. Located in Williamstown, Prossper Photographics looked after the Commercial Photographic cliental, while The Haven Gallery catered for the exhibition of art from oil painting, water colours, photographs, sculptures etc.
The official opening to launch the business was a selection of aboriginal dot paintings from the Western Desert region of Australia. The gallery was privileged to have Joan Kirner the Premier of Victoria officiate at that event. The same, several years later, when it moved to Newport and Steve Bracks the, then Premier official opened the new gallery.
To earn a living it is necessary to satisfy the needs of your clients, but to really satisfy my creative needs, I really enjoy discovering my own subjects to photograph. Although many of these creations are from around home, many are from his travels around Australia and the World.
My area of expertise could be said to be landscapes, as that is what you experience while moving around, but really, I see the beauty in way that nature has shaped objects that make up this world.
I have has now moved to Macleay Island, Queensland where I hope I will have more time to enjoy my own photography to add to this web site.
